PM Directs for Promoting Literacy Rate through BISP
Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s prime minister, has ordered the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) to incorporate initiatives into its programming with the aim of increasing the country’s literacy rate.
Shehbaz Sharif Orders BISP Enrollees to Send Their Children to School, Bolstering Focus on Education:
On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued an order to the administrators of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) requiring participants to enroll their children in school as a means of bolstering the country’s emphasis on education.
Shehbaz Sharif, speaking at the launch of the Social Protection Account under BISP, said, “We will not be promoting the army of beggars, but promoting the army of doers who will build Pakistan with their mental and physical capacity, and a time will come soon when Pakistan will stand on its own feet and will generate our resources.”
Shazia Marri has Received High Praise for her Work to Expand BISP:
Minister for BISP Shazia Marri was praised for her efforts to increase the scope of the program and maintain its openness. He noted that last summer’s disastrous floods, which occurred as the government was experiencing an equally severe economic crisis, caused widespread destruction across the country. According to him, Rs 70 billion were distributed by the federal government to all of the provinces in the most open and accountable way possible as part of BISP.

Former Prime Minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, who was assassinated in 2007, had a remarkable vision for reducing poverty, according to current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Regarding Pakistan’s program with the IMF, he expressed gratitude to the friendly countries that assisted in negotiating and signing the staff-level agreement with the IMF. He was optimistic that the initiative would be successful, and that Pakistan would be able to use the nine-month insurance to implement economic reforms and reorganize the country.
According to Shazia Marri, the number of children enrolled in the program was 2.6 million in 2022, but the number has since climbed to 7.52 million thanks to the efforts of the coalition administration.
She further mentioned that under BISP, a subsidy of Rs 16.3 billion ($2000 per family) was distributed to help offset the costs of petroleum items. According to her, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered a 25% rise in the BISP participants’ quarterly stipend, from Rs 7,000 a year ago to Rs 8,750 presently.
The Prime Minister also handed out Social Protection Account kits to people who had traveled from all around the country to attend the event.
